WILLIAMS AND FOGG TAKE OUT SIX HOUR ENDURANCE RACE

Strapping Systems and LG Electronics drivers Kevin Williams and Angus Fogg have won the 2009 Northern Sports Car Club Six Hour Endurance Race at Pukekoke Park Raceway in Auckland.

The duo won by a healthy one lap margin over the John Hepburn/John Penny/Shane Charlton team in a Holden Commodore followed by Rick Cooper/Deon Cooper’s Ford GT 40.

Today they qualified the Strapping Systems Falcon in third place behind the Nissan Skyline of Harry Dodson, David Westall and Clark Proctor and the Ford Falcon driven by Dean Perkins and Colin Corkery.  The pair drove strongly throughout the 302 laps in the six hour race, always in the top three, and held a comfortable lead over the closing hours of the race.

Williams started and finished the race with Fogg doing a double stint in between.  The Strapping Systems Falcon performed consistently well throughout the day, as opposed to several other leading contenders who retired early due to mechanical failures.  Williams and Fogg had only a tyre puncture to contend with all day.

A delighted Fogg said “What a brilliant race!  This is the first time I have tackled this event – and the first time I have raced at night. I have thoroughly enjoyed it from go to whoa.   Our small crew has worked long and hard since the Hamilton 400 last month to prepare the car for what is, I believe New Zealand’s most challenging race”.

The team will also race at the North Island Endurance Series conclusion at Taupo Motorsport Park on Saturday 6 June.
